Hyatt to launch Japanese ski resort

Hyatt has unveiled plans to launch a new hotel and residences in Niseko, the ski resort area on the Japanese island of Hokkaido.

Scheduled to open in 2019, the Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono and Park Hyatt branded residences will be located in Hanazono, one of the four ski areas of Niseko, and guests will be offered ski-in and ski-out access to Mount Annupuri.

The hotel will feature approximately 100 rooms, plus restaurants, meeting space, a golf clubhouse, ski shop, spa, fitness centre and swimming pool. The property will also feature approximately 100 residences, which Hyatt will operate under rental programme, allowing owners to rent out their units when they aren’t using them.

The new Park Hyatt and residences will form a key part of a new resort and residential development in Niseko. Created by Pacific Century Premium Developments (PCPD), the phased project development will cover an area of approximately 789,000m².

“The agreement marks a key milestone in our Hokkaido project where we have long-term plans to develop this area into a world-class resort destination,” said Robert Lee, deputy chairman & CEO of PCPD. “With this collaboration, we believe the project will be well received and the resort development will become a tourism landmark in Niseko, Hokkaido upon its completion, which will support the long-term growth of the local community.”

Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono will join Hyatt’s portfolio of 10 hotels in the country, including properties in Tokyo, Fukuoka, Hakone, Kyoto, Okinawa and Osaka. It will also become only the second Park Hyatt in Japan following the existing  Park Hyatt Tokyo.
