tarwood Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to launch its high-tech Aloft brand to Nepal.
Set to debut in mid-2017, the Aloft Kathmandu Thamel will form part of a new mixed-use development in the Nepalese capital.
It will become Starwood’s first hotel in Nepal, opening a year prior to the planned launch of the Sheraton Kathmandu Hotel in 2018.
“Aloft will energise the lodging market in Kathmandu… and cater to the next generation of travellers with its emphasis on sleek design and live music,” said Brian McGuinness, Starwood’s senior vice president of specialty select brands.
“The popular Aloft brand is growing at a phenomenal pace and is slated to reach the 100th hotel milestone globally next year. Aloft Kathmandu Thamel will be a significant addition to our rapidly expanding portfolio.”
Located in the centre of Kathmandu, the new Aloft will feature 175 rooms, all with high-tech amenities, plus a restaurant, bar, fitness centre, swimming pool, business centre and 920m² of meeting space.
Starwood already operates six Aloft hotels in the South Asia region, all in India.
