Wyndham adds eight hotels in China

Wyndham Hotel Group has announced the addition of eight new Ramada properties in China.

The new hotels, located in the cities of Linyi, Liuzhou, Changzhou, Changsha, Suzhou, Wuyishan and Xishuangbanna, will be opened over the next two years, taking the Ramada brand’s total Chinese portfolio to 57 hotels. In total, Wyndham now has a collection of 543 hotels in the country, under its five brands – Wyndham, Ramada, Howard Johnson, Days Inn and Super 8 – making it the largest international hotel operator in China.

“Wyndham Hotel Group remains committed to continued, ambitious development within China,” said Robert Loewen, Wyndham Hotel Group’s chief operating officer. “The lack of quality rooms in many second-tier and third-tier cities provides us with opportunities to further expand our presence. We are proud to announce these new additions which will help grow our footprint in the region.”

One of the eight hotels, the 133-room Ramada Suzhou Luzhi, in eastern China’s Jiangsu province, has already opened, and it will be followed by four more in 2013 – Ramada Changzhou in Jiangsu province, Ramada Linyi North,  Shandong province, Ramada Plaza Liuzhou Liudong, in the southern region of Guangxi, and Ramada Plaza Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province.

Then in 2014, Wyndham will launch the Ramada Plaza Changsha West and Ramada Plaza Changsha Riverside in Hunan province, and the Ramada Wuyishan in Fujian province. Together, these eight properties will add more than 1,500 rooms to Wyndham’s Chinese portfolio.
