Hyatt has unveiled plans for a new hotel in Malaysia, to be developed on reclaimed land off the coast of Melaka.
Scheduled to open in late 2019, Hyatt Place Melaka Gateway will form part of an ambitious new development in the historic port city that is being constructed on three reclaimed islands.
When the complex is fully completed in 2025, Melaka Gateway will include hotels, office and residential space, a large convention centre, shopping malls, a 100-metre-high ferris wheel and one of Asia’s largest cruise terminals.
“Hyatt Place Melaka Gateway will be the first Hyatt Place hotel in Malaysia, and we are delighted to… introduce the brand to the country,” said David Udell, Hyatt’s group president for Asia Pacific “The opening of this hotel will mark a significant milestone for Hyatt as the Hyatt Place brand continues to expand worldwide and offer more choices to our guests in key gateway cities.”
Rising 25-storeys, the Hyatt Place Melaka Gateway will offer views of the Malacca Strait from its rooms and facilities, which include a rooftop swimming pool and 250m² of function space.
At present there are nine Hyatt Place hotels open in Asia Pacific, including locations in China, India and Thailand.
