St Regis to debut in India

Palladium Hotel in Mumbai to be rebranded as a St Regis in Q3 2015.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts will launch its luxury St Regis brand in India later this year.

The existing Palladium Hotel in Mumbai is currently undergoing a rebranding and will be relaunched as the St Regis Mumbai in the third quarter of 2015.

“We are very excited to bring the St Regis brand to India,” said Jim Petrus, global brand leader for St Regis. “Starwood is maintaining strong growth momentum in the region and the arrival of St Regis in Mumbai reinforces our commitment to growing our luxury portfolio in this important market.

“With the hotel’s strategic location, sophisticated service and refined elegance, we look forward to offering guests an unparalleled experience true to both the destination and the St. Regis legacy.”

Located in the Lower Parel area of the city, less than half an hour’s drive from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, the 38-storey hotel will feature 386 rooms and suites, all with St Regis’ butler service.

Facilities at the property will include five restaurants, a club lounge, three bars, a swimming pool and a fitness centre. And for the MICE market, the hotel will feature more than 5,200m² of event space, including a 4,200m² ballroom.

The St Regis Mumbai will join a growing portfolio of Starwood hotels in India. The company currently operates 43 hotels in the country, with 37 more in the pipeline. In addition to the St Regis Mumbai, new hotels opening in the next two years will include the W Retreat & Spa Goa, Westin Kolkata, Sheraton Hyderabad, Le Meridien Nagpur and Aloft New Delhi Aerocity.

There are currently 35 St Regis hotels around the world, covering 15 countries. And the Mumbai opening comes during a period of rapid expansion for the brand. There are now 20 new St Regis properties in the pipeline, with new openings expected in Mexico, Egypt, China, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, the Maldives, Kazakhstan, Jordan and the UAE between 2015 and 2021.
